Message from the Chairman
This last year has been unsettled to say the least, what with the possibility
of building on Green Belt land adjacent to Old Milverton which would have
threatened the whole of the village (thankfully this was refused), and the chaos
caused by the referendum and the following General Election!
Amidst all this, last year’s show was reasonably successful, even considering
the weather leading up to it (which affected entries) and then the weather on
the actual day (affecting attendance). In spite of this, it was enjoyed by all those
who were stalwart enough to attend.
The Society’s constitution had not been reviewed for many years and was
eventually brought up to date at the AGM after much discussion throughout the
year by the committee. There may be a few minor adjustments yet to follow,
but on the whole we are more in keeping with 21st Century life!
Work has already begun on the preparations for the 120th Show as I write. I
stand back and watch a very good and enthusiastic committee getting on with
the job. I thank them all and we all look forwards to you joining us at the Show
and Barn Dance this coming September 2nd.
Chairman, Old Milverton Horticultural Show Society.
